Insulators and Conductors

Students in Mrs. Young’s class used the Makey-Makey sets to test the conductivity of common items. If the item was a conductor, then the app on the Chromebook would play a sound. The students were able to choose from the bongos or piano as their response sound. They also discussed that if an item is a conductor, then the electrical circuit had been closed, allowing for the free flow of energy. If an item was an insulator, then it opened the circuit and prevented the free flow of energy. They were very excited to see that items like orange peels, candy corn, and Goldfish Crackers were conductors of electricity.
